Meet my new recycling venture – Phoenix Thread
A couple of months ago I launched a new hobby business called Phoenix Thread. I’m taking recycled human clothing and other gently used materials, cutting up the fabric, and sewing unique handmade dog clothing and pet accessories. One of my main goals in this business is to show people how “trash” can be transformed into “treasure.” I’ve been inspired by other clever upcycling projects I’ve seen on the Internet and at local crafts fairs in Austin. It’s really amazing what you can do when you get rid of your “throw it away” mindset. The reason I chose to make dog products is because I have three of the cute little critters, and I know firsthand how people love to spoil their pets.
A lot of the dog clothes I’m creating really look like the human clothes they came from. Judging from my first craft fair experience, I think people enjoy seeing dog clothes that look just like the fashions in their own closets.
